Drone strike kills 12 militants in Nangrahar

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 12 insurgent have been killed in drone attack in Momandara district in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.

Ahmedzia Abidzai, governor spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the drone targeted a car in Landay Baswal area late Sunday night which killed 12 Talibaninfo-icon fighters. He said the civilians remained safe in the attack.

Hazrat Hussain Mashraqiwal, Nangrahar police spokesman, said the drone targeted militants in a ‘saracha car’ and motorcycle when they were passing through the area. He added “Nissar, a well known Taliban commander, was among the dead. They were planning their destructive activities in the area”.    

Israr Ullah, resident of Bati Kot district, said 12 dead bodies were brought to Chadari Mosqueinfo-icon in Bati Kot soon after the drone attack on the militants.

Haji Ghalib, Bati Kot district chief, confirmed the death of 12 militants in air strike and said 8 more wounded in the attack. He shared the details of the killed militants and said “One or two among the dead are local residents of Bati Kot district and their dead bodies were brought to the area. The rest are Pakistani militants.”

Taliban militants have not commented on the attack so far.
