Baghlan clashes leave 2 civilians dead, 8 wounded
POL-E-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): At least two civilians were killed and eight others wounded in fresh clashes in northern Baghlan province, residents said.
The clashes took place in central Baghlan district and Dand-i-Ghori area of Pul-e-Khumri, the provincial capital.
Four member of a family were injured after a rocket hit their home. However, two of the wounded succumbed to their injuries at provincial hospital, Dr. Khalil Naramgoey, a senior official at the hospital said.
Also six others were wounded during firefight between Afghan security forces and militants in Dand-e-Ghori area.
Nizamuddin, a resident the locality, told Pajhwok Afghan News both sides have been using heavy and light weapons to target each other’s position, which caused causalities among women and children.
“Taliban do not allow anyone to go outside of homes,” he added.
The displaced people in Husainkhil, Zamankhil, Wazirabad and Gawhargan areas of Pul-e-Khumri City have demanded for foods and shelters.
Hamid Niazai, Baghlan Red Crescent head, said that food stuff including flour, ghee, rice and beans and tents would be distributed among the displaced persons soon.
