Herat economic development linked to security
HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A number of investors in western Herat province on Saturday demanded the newly appointed governor to pay heed to improve security, which would pave way for greater investment.
The investors informed dozens of their colleagues transferred their investment abroad due to bad law and order.
Toryalai Ghausi, an investor, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Our number one demand from the new governor is that he should bolster security in the province to encourage more investment.”
Similarly, Ghulam Jilani Hamidi, head of Herat Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) said insecurity discouraged investment while better security would attract more investment which would create job opportunities for people.
Muhammad Asif Rahimi, the newly appointed governor, on the first day of his work assured investors that strict law and order and beefed up security were among his priorities.
