Nuristan Taliban gun down former colleagues
ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Taliban gunned down four former insurgents who shunned violence in eastern Nuristan province, the governor said on Saturday.
Hafiz Abdul Qayyum told Pajhwok Afghan News the executions took in Komoko locality of Kamdish district on Friday.
The group had detained 21 fighters who had abandoned fighting, the governor said, adding that four of former fighters were killed and the fate of 17 others was yet to be ascertained.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed killing four fighters, saying they were killed on charges of spying for the government.
He did not comment on the fate of 17 others.
