Clashes between N. Waziristan tribes leave 47 dead
KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 47 tribesmen have been killed and 25 others wounded in days long clashes over a piece of land between two Pakistani in the volatile North Waziristan, close to the Afghan border, officials and local sources said Saturday.
Pakistani media Dawn.com reports that Mada Khel and Paipali Kabul Khel tribes of North Waziristan had been locked in armed clash for the last two days to capture the disputed mountain area, with both tribes claiming the ownership of the land.
“The fight in Lwara Mandi area in Data Khel area has left 47 people dead and 25 others injured,” it reports.
The residents said, however, 36 people had been killed and 15 wounded. The north Waziristan is a restive Pakistani tribal region where militant groups have sway.
