NDS employees among 7 dead in Kandahar suicide attack
KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Four heavily-armed Taliban targeted the offices of the Quick Response Force early Sunday morning, leaving three employees of National Directorate of Security (NDS) dead, a security official wishing anonymity said.
The official told Pajhwok Afghan News the attack took place in the 5th police district in Kandahar City, the provincial capital at around 6: 30 am. In the ensuing gun battle that erupted after the blast in the office premises, all the four attackers were killed in the hour long showdown, he added.
Samim Khpalwak, the governor’s spokesman, said the suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into the office of Quick Response Force while three other militants opened indiscriminate fire after the explosion.
Khpalwak did not have information about casualties of NDS employees. Ahmed Javed, an eye witness, said he heard loud explosion early morning. It was not a residential area and civilians unhurt in the attack, he noted.
