Prominent singer Farhad Darya donates blood to ANSF
KABUL (Pajhwok): Prominent Afghan singer Farhad Darya on Sunday took part in a blood donation campaign to Afghan security forces, calling on insurgents to shun violence and join peace in larger interest of the country and Afghan nation.
Donating blood in Sardar Mohammad Dawood Khan Hospital in Kabul, Darya said insurgents were afraid of peace and the government was afraid of defining its friend and enemy.
Farhad Darya who is also United Nation’s peace ambassador, said: “Peace was not achievable with violence but with logic and wisdom. Come and shun violence.”
He added Afghans were always champions of war and today it was needed that they should be champions of peace as well.
Dozens, including security officials, civil society activists, members of parliament and media had taken part in this campaign.
Interior minister Noor-ul-Haq Ulumi who also donated blood said people’s support from their forces would make them stronger and unite against enemy.
He welcomed people’s support through such campaigns. “People’s enemy always thinks of how to damage peace and stability, but our forces have always defended the people and would continue to do so.”
General Murad Ali Murad, deputy chief of staff of the Afghan National Army (ANA), who also took part in the campaign said: “I want to assure our soldiers that they have people’s support.”
