8 militants dead in Nangarhar search operation
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least eight militants and a civilian were killed and eleven others, including civilians wounded during in a search operation in the Bati Kota district in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.
Haji Ghalib, the town’s administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News Taliban fired rocket which hit civilians’ houses that left a child dead and five others, including a woman injured.
Maj. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, provincial police spokesman, said the search operation was extended to Chahr Dahi, Takia, Umberkhani, Daman and Kochinao kala districts. A suspect was apprehended with arms and ammunitions.
However, he had no information into casualties but said that security forces remained unhurt in the offensive.
Noor Khan, a local resident, said a woman was killed and a man injured in Takia.
Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban spokesman, said six security personnel were killed and their vehicle damaged in the clash. He acknowledged two insurgents were also killed in the firefight.
