Taliban pushed back in Charsada fight: Khatibi
FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): At least nine insurgents have died and four others wounded as a result of fresh clashes in the Charsada district of western Ghor province, officials said on Tuesday.
Fazl Haq Ehsan, provincial council head, said Taliban mounted three attacks on security check posts on Monday but faced with stern resistance from Afghan National Army (ANA).
Ehsan said a major check post overrun by Taliban was regained by security forces.
Abdul Hai Khatibi, the governor’s spokesman, said Taliban had faced with defeat in the province and retreated. He added insurgents had suffered heavy casualties but he had no exact details.
Two days back, Taliban attacked Charsada district that left 20 insurgents, four security forces personnel and a civilian dead.
Qari Yusuf Ahmadi, a Taliban spokesperson, claimed the group had overrun four check posts and had surrounded the district. He added eight security forces personnel were killed and 12 more wounded.
