Massoud urges Kabul citizens to protect roads
KABUL (Pajhwok): President’s special representative for reforms and good governance Ahmad Zia Massoud on Thursday urged residents of capital Kabul to play their part in protecting the city’s environment and infrastructure.
Massoud, who inaugurated asphalt works on a 5-kilometre road in Kart-i-Parwan locality of Kabul, said the project would benefit 5,000 people and would cost $1.2 million to complete.
He said government’s duty was to execute development projects and people’s responsibility was to protect them. Massoud also asked people to support security forces in maintaining the law and order situation.
Acting Kabul mayor Abdul Ahad Wahid said the road was being reconstructed by the Mashriq Construction Company in the stipulated one year time.
He said nearly 160 km of roads were rehabilitated and asphalted this year in Kabul.
