Pakistan deports 29 illegal Afghans to Khost
KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Pakistani authorities on Thursday handed over 29 illegal Afghan refugees to local officials in southeastern Khost province, an official said.
The Khost governor’s spokesman, Mubariz Zadran, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Afghans had been detained in Pakistan for lacking legal stay documents.
He said the deportees had committed no other crime except illegal stay in the neighboring country.
The Afghans were handed over to Afghan police through the Ghulam Khan border crossing after diplomatic contacts between Afghanistan and Pakistan, he said. The individuals hail from Khost, Paktia, Paktika, Logar and other provinces.
The 402 zone border police commander in Paktia, Gen. Abdul Basir, confirmed the handover of Afghan detainees.
