ACB, Alokozai Group sign sponsorship pact

ACB, Alokozai Group sign sponsorship pact

May 18, 2015 - 16:32

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Alokozai Group of Companies would financially support the Afghanistaninfo-icon Cricket Board (ACB) for the next 10 years under a deal signed on Monday.

“We need financial support for every department of the cricket board,” Shafiqullah Stanakzai, the ACB chief executive, said in a meeting with Mirwais Siyar, a representative of the Alokozai Group.

He said the ACB had been without any financial supporter for the last one and a half years and finding a financial supporter had been one of their main objectives.

Under the agreement, the Alokozai Group would provide $1.3 million per year to the ACB and the agreement would be renewed after every three years following its evaluation by both the parties.

The amount would be spent on promotion of domestic cricket, development of the national team and their international tours, Stanakzai added.

Mirwais Siyal appreciated the ACB achievements and said “we have always tried to support our youth in finding access to educationinfo-icon, training and sportsinfo-icon.”

The ACB chief executive said the Alkozai Group’s logo would be used on Afghan cricket players’ uniform. Besides, the domestic twenty/20 tournament “Sixes” and the Kabul International Stadium would be named after the group.

The group last month signed a similar agreement with the Afghanistan Football Federation for next 15 years.
