Most channels’ serials against national values: Minister
KABUL (Pajhwok): The minister for Information and Cultural Affairs rued on Tuesday most television channels programs against national and religious values which left negative impact on viewers.
Speaking to reporters, Abdul Bari Jahani said the broadcasts of some television were against local norms but freedom of expression should be utilized in a positive way.
“Instead of airing meaningless plays that fuel family and other kinds of deputes in our society, people should be offered with constructive programs and documentaries that are not in contravention of religious and national values,” he remarked.
Without naming any television network, he said that broadcasters should not air luxurious musical and other types of programs that destroyed the minds of people.
He said there was dire need to introduce children related and awareness programs which would leave far-reaching positive impact on coming generation.
He expressed disappointment after watching current programs on televisions. Jahani said that a commission would soon be formed to identify programs in contravention of religious and national values.
Currently, 35 different television networks and 62 radio stations have been function and airing different programs. Most of them played Turkish and Indian drams and movies.
