Policemen among 9 dead in Uruzgan violence
TARINKOT (Pajhwok): Two policemen and seven militants have been killed in fierce clashes that erupted on Tuesday night in the Charchino district in central Uruzgan province, an official said on Wednesday.
Mohammad Nayab, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News Taliban fighters attacked several security check posts and the ensuing gun battle left two policemen and seven militants dead.
The security forces took control of the area, he added.
Mohammad Ismail, the town’s administrative chief, confirmed the clash and added that six Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed in the firefight.
Taliban have not commented on the incident.
