2 traffic accidents claim 11 lives

NEILI/SAR-I-PUL CITY/ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Eleven persons were killed and score others wounded in separate traffic accidents in central Daikundi and northern Sar-i-Pul provinces on Thursday, official said.

Five people were killed and 13 others wounded when driver of a passenger coach lost control over the vehicle and subsequently overturned in the Shahristan district of Daikundi province, the town’s administrative chief said.

The accident took place at around 9:00 am, he said, adding two womeninfo-icon and as many men were among the dead, while 13 others received injures with seven of them in critical condition.

Six people were killed and ۲7 others wounded in a separate traffic accident in central Sar-i-Pul province, director of the National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) said.

Capt. Syed Naqibullah said the accident took place at around 2:00pm in the Chahar Bagh locality of Sar-i-Pul, the provincial capital. 

Elsewhere, six would-be suicide bombers who planned to stage attacks in Zaranj, the provincial capital of southwestern Nimroz province, were eliminated.

Police Chief Mohammad Qasim Jangal Bagh told Pajhwok Afghan News the bombers were perished in the Rod Bar locality of Chahar Boluk district when their own suicide vest exploded prematurely.
