Agreement with ISI yet to be finalized: NDS
KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said on Sunday that the agreement with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) yet to be finalized in which national interest would be kept supreme.
The agreement which is hot topic in several media outlets was said to be still debatable and required five stages to become operational, a statement from the NDS directorate said.
Cooperation between the two spy services was needed for trust building, increased cooperation to deal with terrorism and create friend environment between the two sides, the statement said.
It added the deal would be inked and implemented after it was made sure that national interests of the country were protected.
Earlier, Ajmal Obaid Abidy, presidential spokesman had said: “The agreement was not something new between Pakistan and Afghanistan. In the past too, both the agencies had such agreements. Now the major focus of the agreement is on fighting terrorism.”
