HPC, Taliban hold parlays in China
KABUL (Pajhwok): The High Peace Council (HPC) of Afghanistan held a meeting with a four member Taliban delegation in Ürümqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China, a well-placed source said on Sunday.
The source wishing to go unnamed told Pajhwok Afghan News that Taliban’s four-member delegation had traveled to China recently where they met with the HPC Secretary Masoom Stanikzai.
The HPC also confirmed Stanikzai visit to China. Mullah Hassan Rahmani, Mullah Jalil, Mullah Abdul Razaq and Mullah Noor-ul-Din represented the Taliban delegation.
But Taliban’s Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid denied the visit of its political delegation to China.
It was the first time that China hosted a meeting between the HPC and Taliban. Earlier, China had offered to support the reconciliation process in Afghanistan.
