India relaxes visa regime for Afghans: envoy
KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): New Indian consul general in southern Kandahar province Narendra Pal Singh on Sunday said visa process for Afghan patients and traders wishing to visit India had been relaxed at the consulate.
Singh, who called on the new Kandahar governor, Dr. Humayun Azizi at the governor’s house, said the visa regime for Afghans would be further relaxed.
He said his country had paved the ground for a large number of Afghan students to pursue their higher studies in India and each year dozens of Afghan students reached India for higher education on scholarships.
Singh said India and Afghanistan enjoyed historic relations and their friendship was ever-lasting. He said India would continue assisting Afghanistan in area of infrastructural development projects and winning peace and stability.
Governor Azizi, who welcomed the new Indian consul general, said Afghanistan valued its relations with India. He urged India to further increase its assistance with Afghanistan in area of higher education.
