Mining law to be revised, says minister
KABUL (Pajhwok): Mines and Petroleum Minister Daud Shah Saba on Monday said it had been decided to review the mining law and asked experts to share their views with the ministry.
“We plan to revise the current mining law and add new articles to it if needed, therefore, every institution concerned and experts are requested to share their views and opinions with us,” Saba said.
He said: “We want to improve the mining sector, bring transparency and ensure that the mining affairs are legally conducted and make known to people activities of the vital sector,” he said.
The mining law was first drafted in 2008 and approved by parliament and then president, but some amendments were made to the law in 2014 after experts raised objections. After the amendments, the law was again ratified and endorsed by the president.
