6 urban ministry officials referred to AGO
KABUL (Pajhwok): Presidential Palace on Friday said six high-ranking officials of Urban Development Ministry accused of administrative graft have been referred to Attorney General’s Office (AGO).
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Thursday sacked the six officials and barred them from leaving the country.
The officials included Ahmad Nawaz Bakhtyar, Mohammad Amin Qani, Ahmad Shah Hemat, Mohammad Amin Amin, Eng. Gul Rahim Zyarmal, Sayed Aman Sadaat.
Hamdullah Mohib, acting presidential spokesman, said fighting administrative graft was government’s top priority. The cases of the six officials have been referred to Attorney General Office.
He added the acting head of Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA) and the agency’s deputy heads have also been sacked and a committee has been appointed to investigate corruption in key department.
According to Mohib, the president has directed the ministries not to interfere in competitive posts.
He added the ministry of commerce and industries has also been asked to introduce some potential nominees to head AISA.
