Farah Taliban on offensive against Daesh fighters
FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Officials in western Farah province said Taliban and Daesh fighters have been engaged in fierce clashes in Anar Dara district since Saturday afternoon.
Iqbal Baher, police spokesman, said Taliban insurgents had staged attacks on Daesh positions in Sargazan locality of Anar Dara. He added at least 12 Taliban fighters were wounded in the clashes but he had no more details.
Samadyar, Anar Dara administrative head, said both sides had suffered casualties but the exact figures were not available. Afghan National Army (ANA) had conducted airstrikes on Taliban and Daesh fighters’ positions on Saturday.
A security sources said 16 fighters belonging to both groups had died in the airstrikes.
Based on reports, Daesh fighters were based in Khak-i-Safid district in recent months but after days of clashes they were driven out to Anar Dara by Taliban fighters.
Both the groups have not commented on the clashes so far.
