Protesting teachers want increment, plots
KABUL (Pajhwok): Over one hundred teachers of Isteqlal High School on Tuesday staged a protest, demanding raise in salaries and residential facility.
Nabila Habibi Sham, a teacher, told Pajhwok Afghan News as many as 120 teachers staged a protest inside the school and boycotted their classes.
“We decided to observe strike until the authorities accept our legitimate demands. This time, teachers’ salaries range from 6,000 to 20,000 afghanis,” she added.
But official at the Ministry of Education (MoE) said there was a system of grade and teachers don’t get more benefit and increment when they reach to the last degree of promotion.
The ministry’s spokesman Mohammad Kabir Haqmal said top education ministry’s officials had met the protesting teachers and promised to consider their legal demands.
He said the teachers demanded elimination of grad system which was not in their powers.
