Minor girl among 3 killed in Sar-i-Pul attack
SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): Suspected Taliban killed three persons, including a minor girl, and injured her mother during an attack near the provincial capital of northern Sar-i-Pul province on Thursday, an official said.
The incident took place on the Sar-i-Pul -Sozma road in the afternoon, said Col Norullah Noorkhail, the public order police commander, who is in-charge of security on the road.
He said Taliban militants intercepted a vehicle and pulled off its occupants, beat them and then shot them dead. The dead persons included a policeman, he added.
A driver, giving an eyewitness account, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants stopped the car and asked the people inside to come out.
One of them was a policeman who wanted to take out his gun but the militants opened fire and killed him and his daughter and a third person. A woman was wounded in the firing, he added.
The victims were from the same family, said the driver, who continued the Taliban stopped a taxi driver from taking the injured and the policeman’s body to hospital.
Ghulam Mohammad Nazari, a relative of the slain individuals, criticised security forces for not providing security to people on the main road.
“They are not Taliban since Taliban know killing an 8-year-old girl and innocent people is un-Islamic and even non-Muslims would not kill so brutally like they did.”
The Taliban have not commented on the incident so far.
