2 senior Taliban killed in Logar airstrike
PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Two senior commanders were among 10 Taliban militants killed in an airstrike in the Arza district of central Logar province, an official said on Saturday.
Logar police chief Brig Gen Abdul Hakim Ishaqzai told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants had gathered for an import meeting in Kas area last night when they were targeted in the airstrike.
The dead included Taliban’s deputy district chief for Azra district, Maulvi Jalaluddin, and the district military chief Maulvi Mansoor.
The Taliban were planning a major attack on the district, said Ishaqzai, who did not say which forces carried out the airstrike.
Pajhwok could not reach out to local residents since Taliban militants had cut off telecommunication services in the area.
There has been no word from the Taliban about the incident.
