Tens of female students poisoned in Bamyan
BAMYAN (Pajhwok): Dozens of girl students were poisoned in Panjab district of central Bamyan province, with few of them stated to be in critical condition.
Dr. Aminullah, district health department head, told Pajhwok Afghan News more than 30 students were poisoned around 9:00am on Saturday.
He added health conditions of five students were critical. The reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained.
Asadullah Beg Habibi, a resident of the area, said between 80 to 90 students of the girls’ school were shifted to the district hospital.
Ghulam Nabi, the school’s principal, said around ten students from the 11th and 12th classes felt severe headache in the beginning and later their number rose to 25.
Security officials, he added, still did not find the reason behind the incident.
Mohammad Reza Ada, Bamyan education department director, said they had started investigating the matter.
Last year also 50 students were poisoned in the district.
