6 rebels killed in overnight Farah clash
FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Six Taliban insurgents were killed and another four wounded during an overnight clash with security forces in the Bala Buluk district of western Farah province, an official said.
Jawad Afghan, the provincial governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News a group of militants stormed police check-posts in Dehzang area last night, sparking a battle that lasted till 9pm.
At least six militants were killed and another four were wounded during the clash that also left a policeman and two civilians wounded.
Mohammad Musa, a local resident, said three Taliban were killed in the nighttime clash. A policeman, an Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel and a civilian were wounded, he added.
ALP personnel vacated their posts after Taliban militants attacked them on Sunday morning, but later Afghan National Army soldiers entered the area and wrested back the posts.
The Taliban have not commented on the incident so far.
