New governors for Khost, Wardak appointed
KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has appointed new governors for southeastern Khost and central Maidan Wardak provinces, an official said on Tuesday.
Tawab Ghorzang, the IDLG spokesman, said told Pajhwok Afghan News Hayatullah Hayat had been appointed as the governor of Maidan Wardak.
Meanwhile, a statement from the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) said Hayataullah was highly qualified and had a vast expertise in the area of administration.
The IDLG statement appreciated services of former governor Abdul Majeed Khogyani and hoped his successor would initiate proper programs for economic development, good governance and improved security of the province.
Hayat belongs to Wazir Tattang area of Khogyani district and holds bachelor’s degrees in English, Law and Political Science and a master’s degree in public administration.
He has worked with national and international organization for 20 years and knows Pashtu, Dari, English, Urdu and Arabic.
Hayat presently works as director of the Khogyani Grand Council, is the chairman of civil society coordination center and director of Hayat group.
Former governor Khogyani congratulated the new governor and wished him successes in his future.
Deputy Economy Minister Hukam Khan Habibi has been appointed as the governor of Khost, a government source said, calling Habibi a qualified person with enough experience in governance.
President Ghani had previously appointed a female as the governor for Maidan Wardak province.
