6 militants killed in Nangarhar, Kunar incidents
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Three Taliban militants were killed in a drone strike and a rebel commander was arrested separately by security forces in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Wednesday.
Provincial police spokesman Col Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News the drone strike took place on Tuesday evening in the Lalpur district.
He said the drone struck a vehicle carrying the militants, killing three. Civilians suffered no casualties in the strike, he added.
In the same area, seven militants were recently killed during an air strike.
The police spokesperson said Kuchi, a prominent Taliban commander aka Sangarai, was arrested in Jalalabad.
The commander had arrived in Jalalabad to repair his vehicle when security forces arrested him along with a companion.
Elsewhere, militants stormed Afghan National Army (ANA) check posts in the Dangam district of neighbouring Kunar province.
Numan Hatafi, the 201st military corps spokesman, said three militants were killed when the ANA soldiers returned fire. The troops stayed unhurt in the attack that took place in the Kanta area, he added.
