Pajhwok mobile app goes on display in Kabul Expo
KABUL (Pajhwok): The first information technology expo got underway in the capital Kabul showcasing products, technologies and services from 120 foreign and domestic companies, including Pajhwok Afghan News, on Saturday.
The four-day event is organised by the Center of Afghanistan Exhibitions (CAE) jointly with the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology (MICT) in the Shahr-i-Naw area.
At the inauguration ceremony, MCIT deputy minister Emal Marjan said Afghanistan had significant achievements in the IT sector in the past 13 years.
He said the private sector had played a special role in the IT achievements as $2.3 million had been invested in the field employing more than 180,000 Afghans.
The ground for more investment in the information technology in Afghanistan remained open, he said, describing IT exhibitions as effective in luring investment.
Marjan said: “Despite insecurity in Afghanistan, several IT companies have been operating that shows the Afghan people always struggle to develop their country.”
Mobile phone service providers also highlighted their achievements and showcased SIM cards while business companies have put on display products they have imported for supply to the market.
Pajhwok Afghan News agency also displayed its mobile application developed for accessing news on Android and IOS devices.
