105 Balkh schools without building: Director education
MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Officials of education department in northern Balkh province said on Sunday more than one hundred schools were without building, forcing students to study under the open sky amid lack of curriculum books.
Education Director Azizullah Aziz said this during inauguration ceremony of second portion of Experimental School building in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital.
He said a total of 632 schools and seminaries were functioning in the province, out of which 560 were government schools and the remaining were technical institutions or religious learning centers.
He lamented the schools that had building were in dilapidated condition and did not had necessary facilities for students where they could continue their education.
He said militants’ presence halted education services in Aburz, Chahar Boluk, Chamtal, Shurtapa and Zar localities.
He said the schools of these areas were not closed, but teachers and other staffs were unable to attend classes due to insecurity.
