Investigations into PAN office attack underway: Governor
KABUL (Pajhwok): Administrative head of eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday said that investigations into the Wednesday night’s bomb blast at Pajhwok Afghan News (PAN) bureau office in the capital of the province was underway.
The blast took place shortly after 8:00 pm at the entrance of the office, injuring at least four guests at the nearby office of the American broadcaster Voice of America in the Ghalji plaza in Jalalabad City.
The blast also damaged office equipment but fortunately the staff was not present at the bureau at the time of the blast.
Nangarhar Governor Salim Kunduzi in a news conference condemned the attack on Pajhwok Afghan News office and said that security forces have launched investigations to divulge facts.
He said that provincial officials were committed to protect journalists. “We are working out a strategy to ensure journalists security,” he added.
The attack was widely condemned by national and international organizations and called the incident an assault on freedom of press.
