Halim introduced as Supreme Court member-designate
KABUL (Pajhwok): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani introduced Sayed Yousuf Halim as member-designate for Supreme Court’s High Council slot on Monday, an official said.
“Under Article 64 of the Constitution, the president had approved the candidacy of Sayed Yousuf Halim for the membership of the Supreme Court of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan,” a presidential decree said.
The minister at parliamentary affairs was tasked to introduce Halim to the Wolesi Jirga for a vote of confidence.
An official wishing not to be named told Pajhwok Afghan News that Ghani would appoint Halim as head of Supreme Court.
Afghanistan Supreme Court has nine members all of them based on the constitution introduced by the president to Wolesi Jirga for vote of confidence.
Based on article 117th of the constitution, the Supreme Court shall be comprised of nine members, appointed by the president and with the endorsement of the House of People.
