772 million afghanis saved in 14 contracts: NPC
KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Procurement Committee (NPC) on Wednesday said after evaluating 32 government contracts, three had been rejected due to flaws and drawback.
NPC Director Yama Yari told journalists as many as 17 of evaluated contracts had been approved, four have been suspended and the rest needed more contemplation.
The 32 contracts, he added, were worth 5.4 billion afghanis. According to Yari, the contracts were discussed in latest NPC meeting headed by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, attended by second vice-president and ministers of finance, justice, economy and foreign observers.
In 13 Ministry of Defence contracts, 311 million afghanis had been saved and 412 millions more were saved in the contract of flying pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, he added.
Yari said travel ticket for each pilgrim was $1,320 last year while the prices had been brought down to $1,040 this year.
The NPC headed by the president himself has evaluated 127 contracts earlier also in which 6.3 billion afghanis had been saved.
