14 civilians dead, 5 hurt in Helmand landmine blast
LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Fourteen civilians were killed and five others wounded when their vehicle they were travelling in hit a landmine in the Marjah district in southern Helmand province on Saturday evening, the governor’s spokesman said.
Umar Zwak told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in Tarkha Nawar locality of the district. Women and children were among the casualties, he added.
He said the passenger vehicle was heading to Marjah district from Lashkargah, the provincial capital.
The injured, he said were instantly evacuated to a hospital.
