Spiraling insecurity irks lawmakers
KABUL (Pajhwok): Some Wolesi Jirga (WJ) members on Saturday expressed grave concern over spiraling insecurity and warned districts would fall to insurgents if steps were not taken to ameliorate the situation.
Safia Aymaq, a lawmaker from Badghis province, said Abkamri district had become a strong hold of Daesh, which had exemplary peace months back.
She lamented security situation of the entire country was deteriorated and Abkamri district and Badghis province would go into Taliban control any time soon.
The 1st Deputy Speaker Haji Qader voiced serious reservations over growing influence of Islamic State (IS) and blamed Pakistan for supporting IS against Taliban.
He alleged Pakistan helped Taliban and Daesh to strengthen their positions in Goshta and Kama district and if these two districts fell to insurgents then parts of Kunar and Nuristan provinces might face threat.
Nafesa Azimi, representative of Ghazni people, raised similar concerns and said despite frequent complaints the government did not pay attention to security situations of Ghazni.
