Ramazan night cricket tournament begins in Kabul

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): A twenty20 night cricket tournament featuring eight teams has started in the central capital Kabul under the title Ramazan Cup.

Afghanistaninfo-icon Cricket Board chairman Nasim Danish inaugurated the tournament last night by hitting a ball at the Zarmalwal privately-owned cricket ground in the Ahmad Shah Baba Mena in the 12th police district.

Besides Danish, ACB deputy head Haji Azizullah, Zarmalwal stadium official Haji Jilani Zarmalwal and other cricket officials and players attended the inauguration ceremony.

Danish said the cricket board was ready to extend every support to the private sector in promotion of cricket.

Involving eight teams, the twenty20 tournament has been organised by the Zarmalwal cricket ground officials.

Haji Azizullah told Pajhwok Afghan News the participating teams had been divided into two groups.

Group-A includes Muslim Hand, Afghan Rangers, Hiwad Dost and Shaheed Abdulk Rahim cricket clubs and the Group-B Afghan Telecom, Bilal Omar, Al-Mubrak and SCCE teams.

He said one match was played each night beginning at 10pm. The last night match between Afghan Rangers and Muslim Hand was won by the Afghan Rangers.
