President dissatisfied with ministry's performance
KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday expressed his dissatisfaction with activities of the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled (MoLSAMD), saying Afghanistan’s future was tied to it.
A statement from Ghai's office said the president made the remarks while chairing a meeting of the MoLSAMD leadership and the Presidential Palace’s Administrative Affairs Office’s Oversight and Investigation Committee.
At the meeting, the president expressed his annoyance over the ministry’s performance and directed LSAMD Minister Nasrin Oryakhel to replace the current deputies with experienced individuals and resubmit the ministry’s 100-day plan to him.
The lack of a proper mechanism to classify the impairment and no centrality in the ministry’s working system delayed response to disabled people’s demands and kept them waiting despite the fact the ministry received enough budget, the president noted.
Ashraf Ghani said in the past too, the MoLSAMD had failed to resolve problems and meet demands of people with disabilities and no fundamental reforms had been brought to the ministry.
Promising essential reforms, minister Nasrin Oryakhel said she would review the impairment classification committee and would reform the system under which anomalies were committed in the past.
She said her ministry would soon complete the process that would facilitate disabled persons to receive their stipends through banks in all provinces.
She said a biometric system would be set up to register disabled persons and coordination would be increased between the government’s charitable organisations and donors to prevent work interference.
