11 ANA soldiers dead in rebels attack in Herat
HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Eleven Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed and nine others wounded when militants ambushed ANA convoy in western Herat province on Monday, an official said.
Governor Spokesman Ihsanullah Hayat confirmed the incident and said: “ANA soldiers and police officials were traveling in their vehicles when faced with Taliban ambush and all security men on board were killed.”
Sher Agha, police chief for Karkh district, told Pajhwok Afghan News that well-armed insurgents ambushed a convoy of ANA troops in the district early morning.
The attack took place in Band Sabzak locality on the edge of Badghis province, he added. However, Taliban have yet to comment on the incident.
