KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The spokesman of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said that Afghan security forces boldly thwarted several attempts of anti-state elements to capture some key districts of the county and the enemy failed to materialize its nefarious designs.

Dawlat Waziri told a press conference along with spokesman of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) Sadiq Sadiqi, that “we have initiated military operation to get control of three districts which were not in government control.”

Afghan security forces had started military operation, he said, adding that at least 25 armed rebels had been killed, 14 others were wounded and three others were apprehended in Badakhshan, Kunduz, Ghazni, Nangarhar, Kunar and Nuristan province.

At least seven Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers had also been killed in the operations, Waziri said.

Sadiq Sadiqi said most insurgents came from across the border and the security forces had been using all means to flush them out.

Sadiqi said that people still have illegal weapons in Afghanistaninfo-icon therefore MoI had planned to devise a strategy to register the number of illegal weapons and armed groups.
