36 militants dead in Kandahar operations: Khpalwak
KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): The Taliban’s-designated chief for Zerai district and 35 other militants were killed in southern Kandahar, an official said on Tuesday.
Samim Khpalwak, the governor’s spokesperson, told Pajhwok Afghan News Afghan security forces conducted joint anti-militants operations in Maiwand, Ghwarak and the surrounding areas. Taliban shadow commander and 35 other militants had been killed in the offensives, he added.
Separately, a security source said that a commander and his guard were killed and a policeman wounded in an attack on police check post. Khpalwak confirmed the attack but did not say anything about casualties.
However, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, a Taliban spokesman, claimed killing two Afghan Local Police (ALP) commanders and four policemen.
