PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Police on Wednesday claimed seizing around 1,100 kilograms of hashish in central Logar.
Maj. Qari Mohammad Wara, senior police official, told Pajhwok Afghan News the smugglers were transporting hashish in a Prado vehicle. The smugglers wanted to freight the hashish from eastern province to western provinces.
Hasibullah Stanakzai, head of provincial council, said Azri district road had turned a peaceful route for drug smugglers. “The smugglers pay huge amount to Taliban to create insecurity in the district so they would smuggle the drugs easily through several districts of Logar,” he added.
He said that security forces should work out a comprehensive strategy to control drugs peddling in the province.
According to Logar police, they had apprehended the drug smugglers several times in recent past in Azri district.
