7 militants killed in Helmand offensive
LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Seven militants were killed during an operation in the Sangin district of southern Helmand province, the Afghan military said on Thursday.
In a statement, the 205 Maiwand military corps said the operation was conducted last night in the Amanullah Karez area.
It said the slain fighters included a prominent commander, Mullah Agha Jan. Some weapons were also seized from the rebels, the statement said.
The Taliban have not yet commented regarding the incident.
However, the group’s spokesman, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, said a police commander, Adam Khan, and his guard were killed in a bomb attack in the Nawa district.
