Work on NSP projects resumed in Paktia after 8 years

Work on NSP projects resumed in Paktia after 8 years

Jul 04, 2015 - 16:39

SHARAN (Pajhwok): Work on National Solidarity Programme (NSP) projects has been relaunched after eight years break in southeastern Paktika province, the director of rural rehabilitation development (RRD) said on Saturday.

Najibullah Najib told Pajhwok Afghan News that NSP projects resumed as a result of efforts by provincial council members. The projects had come to a halt due to insecurity in the area and indifferences among locals in 2007, he recalled.

Projects worth 100 million afghanis were in progress in Jani Khail and Burmal districts, Najib said, adding that retaining walls, small and large dams, culverts, canals and several other agricultural schemes would be completed by the end of this year.

Najib said several other projects would commence in other districts soon. At least 25 projects were under process only in Khushamand district which were halted because of worst law and order situation.

“The government and people should extend complete support for successful implantation of the projects in the area,” he urged.

RRD had plans to kick-off around 184 projects under Sabat Program whereas only 60 projects had been taken off, the director said, adding that the remaining projects would be initiated through NSP.

The schemes would be implemented from NSP budgets. Paktika is one of the remote provinces where residents mostly complain of shortage of reconstructioninfo-icon projects.
