1 dead, houses damaged in Badakhshan flood
FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): One person was killed and over 80 houses were destroyed by flash flood in northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said on Wednesday.
Syed Mohibullah Humayun Dihqan, director of Afghanistan Natural Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA), told Pajhwok Afghan News the flood wreaked havoc in the Aynok village of Suhada district.
He said one person died and in the flood which washed away dozens of houses. More damages are feared if floods intensified.
Separately, police recovered 48 kilogram of opium, 1.5 kilograms of heroin and arrested four alleged smugglers.
The contraband was being transferred from Argo district to Faizabad, the provincial capital.
