3 civilians killed, 2 injured in Kapisa fight
MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): At least three members of a family, including women and a child, have been killed and two others wounded when a mortar struck civilian population during exchange of fire between militants and Afghan Local Police (ALP) in Tagab district in central Kapisa province, an official said Wednesday.
Intense firefight erupted between ALP and militants in Tuterkhel and Shah kot areas, residents said.
Ahmad Shah, a resident of the area, told Pajhwok Afghan News a mortar shell targeted a house and left two women and a child dead and another man wounded.
Both ALP and militants should avoid targeting civilian population in their fight, he added. Mostly civilians suffered casualties in the fight, he said.
Ibadullah, another resident of Shah kot area, confirmed some civilians were killed and injured in the fight.
Khwaja Agha Sapi, ALP commander, alleged that insurgents fired rocket on residential areas, which caused casualties.
Taliban have not commented on the incident.
