6 ALP officials, 7 insurgents dead in Faryab violence
MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Six Afghan Local Police (ALP) officials, including a commander, and seven Taliban have been killed in two different security incidents in western Faryab province, officials said on Friday.
Sayed Luqman, the Tagab district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News a mine making expert, Qari Noor Muhammad aka Ostad Ali Muhammad, along with his six associates were died when their mine exploded prematurely.
The notorious Ostad Ali Muhammad used to devise mines for the 14 districts of the province and train new mine making experts.
Muhammad Dawood Janbash, a resident of the district, said that two dead bodies of militants had been delivered to their families but that of Ostad Ali Muhammad had to yet to be received by his family.
Six ALP officials, including their commander, were killed in a mine blast in Astana Baba locality of the district.
Taliban have planted two bombs under a tree, with one of the device was defused by a police party while the other went-off leaving six policemen dead on the spot.
