Deserved Nangarhar families get assistance
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A charity organization Zhwand Welfare Organization has distributed food and non-food items to dozens of vulnerable families on Friday in eastern Nangarhar province.
Ikramullah Ikram, a volunteer, told a gathering the assistance had been extended to needy families as a Ramazan package in several districts.
“A sack of flour, 10 liters of edible oil, 7 kilogram of rice, 7 kilograms of sugar, 7 kilograms of beans, pulses, green tea, dates and soap are included in the aid items,” Ikram added.
“We buy around 4,000 afghanis items and pay 1,200 afghanis in cash to each family,” he said, adding that several local and foreign Afghan businessmen and had sent the donation which had been distributed among deserving families.
Abdullah Hood, another volunteer, urged well-off individuals and businessmen to provide donation to the group so that they would better support vulnerable families.
Shah Mehmood 65, a thalassemia patient and a beneficiary, thanked the organization to support families in Ramzan. He said he did not have any source of income so the aid would provide some relief to his family for few days.
The Zhwand Welfare Organization also assisted thalassemia patients and had donated over 2,000 cc blood to the patients so far.
