Work on asphalting 11- km Logar road kicks off
PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Construction work on asphalting an 11 kilometres long road kicked off on Sunday in central Logar province, an official said.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Governor Mohammad Halim Fidaee said the road was around 11 kilometres long and eight metres wide, which would be completed in three months.
“The road was bumpy and uneven and now it will be graveled, which will facilitate people of at least 40 villages after completion of the vital project,” Fidaee added.
The Public Works Department initiated the construct which would cost around 150 million afghanis, given by the World Bank (WB). Hasibullah Stanakzai, province council member, said it has been the first big project in last few years being built in the province.
Malik Abdullah, a resident of Mohammad Aghi district, said he was extremely happy with the construction of the road since there was no such facility in the area earlier. He hoped the road would help farmers shift their agricultural products easily to the market.
