12 militants killed in US drone strike in Nangarhar
KABUL (Pajhwok): US drone attack has killed at least 12 militants, including two dreaded commanders, in eastern Nangarhar province, an official says on Monday.
Lt. Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashraqiwal, police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the unmanned aircraft fired missile at a compound, leaving 12 rebels, including a shadow Taliban governor and district chief, dead in Achin district.
Earlier, a source wishing not to be named said that five Taliban commanders have been killed in Sunday’s evening drone strike. The shadow governor for Laghman province, Amin Jan, was also among dead.
Abu Taloot, a member of Daesh, tweeted that Taliban had joined Daesh group and had killed their former Taliban commander Maulvi Abbas but he had no more details.
Police have apprehended seven militants along with weapons in Achin district, the police chief said. Militants have yet to comment on the incident.
It merits mentioning that US drone had killed dozens of militants including top Daesh commanders in Achin district.
