Girls’ school blown up in Nangarhar
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have blown up girl’s school which has turned into ashes in eastern Nangarhar province, an official says.
Mohammad Asif Shinwari, spokesman of education directorate, told Pajhwok Afghan News unidentified rebels blew up girls’ schools with explosives.
Bodyalay High School has 750 enrolled girls’ students but the school is closed for Ramazan vacations.
The classrooms and administrative rooms have been completely demolished and the documents burnt, he said.
“We have brought the issue into the notice of authorities’ concerned. We want the perpetrators of the massacre be punished,” Shinwari said,.
Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the incident but he had no information to share.
Ahmad Ali Hazrat, head of provincial council, condemned the incident and asked the security organs to provide complete security to schools. “Education is the right of everyone and those who destroy schools should be identified and punished.”
